LIFE IN OSLO · LIFE TOGETHER
You may have built a home and a community in Oslo, raised children, found your routines and made Norway your own. Yet your relationship might feel lonelier than it used to. Or you may be navigating the subtle tensions of different languages, backgrounds, family expectations and ways of expressing care.
Busy schedules, parenting, career demands, differences in communication and the mental load of everyday life can slowly crowd out time for each other. For expat couples living in Norway, one partner may feel firmly rooted while the other misses family, familiar language or an established support network. That difference can quietly shape conflict and closeness.
Often it is not one dramatic event. It is the same interaction repeating until both of you feel unheard, exhausted or far apart.
You do not have to be newly arrived, or identify as an expat, to seek support. Your experiences may be different, and both deserve to be understood.
WHAT CAN FEEL DIFFICULT
Whether you live in Oslo or elsewhere in Norway, relationship difficulties often show up in the most ordinary parts of a shared day.
Even after years in Oslo, one partner may have a stronger local network while the other feels disconnected. We explore how belonging, isolation and support affect your relationship.
Different ideas about family, independence, emotional expression and conflict can shape how you turn toward or away from each other. We make those differences easier to talk about.
Work, caregiving, planning and uneven responsibilities can turn you into co-managers instead of partners. We work toward fairer agreements and more space for warmth.
HOW WE WORK
I'm Francesca, a systemic couples therapist offering English-speaking online couples therapy for international, expat and intercultural couples in Oslo and across Norway. I look beyond the surface argument to the stories, attachment needs and unspoken expectations shaping what happens between you.
We explore how your individual histories, cultural experiences and everyday pressures interact with the way you relate. You can learn to recognise the cycle sooner, talk about differences with more care and make decisions as a team.
I'm not a silent observer. I'll offer reflections, thoughtful challenges and practical ways forward, while making space for both people's needs.
