YOUR RELATIONSHIP, YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE
You may have built a home, careers, friendships and routines in Copenhagen over many years. Yet somewhere along the way, the two of you may have started feeling less like a team. Or perhaps your relationship has always carried the complexity of different cultures, languages or expectations.
Daily responsibilities, parenting, work, differences in communication and the mental load of keeping life running can quietly take up the space that used to belong to connection. For expat couples, distance from family or different experiences of belonging may add another layer.
Often it is not one dramatic event. It is the pattern you keep falling into, and how alone or misunderstood it leaves you feeling.
You do not need to have recently moved, or even to identify as an expat, to need support. There is room for both stories, without making either partner the problem.
WHAT CAN FEEL DIFFICULT
Whether you live in Copenhagen or elsewhere in Denmark, relationship difficulties often show up in ordinary moments.
Even after years in Copenhagen, one of you may feel more rooted or supported than the other. We make space for different experiences of belonging, loneliness and emotional closeness.
Different family traditions, communication styles and expectations can shape how you love, disagree and care for each other, wherever you have made your home.
Planning, follow-through, masking and unequal responsibilities can leave one partner overwhelmed and the other ashamed. Understanding differences is the beginning of building fairer agreements.
HOW WE WORK
I'm Francesca, a systemic couples therapist offering English-speaking online couples therapy for international, expat and intercultural couples. I look beyond the surface argument to the stories, attachment needs and unspoken expectations shaping what happens between you.
We explore how your individual histories, cultural experiences and everyday pressures interact with the way you relate. You can learn to recognise the cycle sooner, talk about differences with more care and make decisions as a team.
I'm not a silent observer. I'll offer reflections, thoughtful challenges and practical ways forward, while making space for both people's needs.
