Emotional safety & repair
Rejection sensitivity, shutdown, defensiveness or feeling constantly corrected can turn small disagreements into painful cycles. We slow the cycle down and learn how to repair.
ADHD & autism in relationships
You can love each other deeply and still struggle to feel understood.
When ADHD, autism or different ways of processing the world meet in a relationship, even small moments can become exhausting. Couples therapy helps you make sense of what happens between you, without asking either person to become someone else.

When understanding feels hard
One of you needs quiet after a long day. The other longs for connection. One needs clear plans; the other finds routines hard to sustain. Both can feel rejected, criticised or alone.
A late response, a change of plans or a difficult conversation can mean something very different to each of you. Over time, you may start protecting yourselves in ways that hurt the relationship.
The challenge is not simply a different brain. It is what repeated misunderstanding has taught each of you to expect from the other.
A diagnosis can offer relief and language for what has been difficult. It does not erase the impact on your partner. In therapy, we make room for both compassion and accountability.
What we explore
Every neurodivergent relationship is different. These are some of the places where love and good intentions can get lost in translation.
Rejection sensitivity, shutdown, defensiveness or feeling constantly corrected can turn small disagreements into painful cycles. We slow the cycle down and learn how to repair.
Noise, screens, touch, routines and the need for solitude can shape how closeness feels. We work towards arrangements that respect both nervous systems.
Planning, follow-through, masking and unequal responsibilities can leave one partner overwhelmed and the other ashamed. Understanding differences is the beginning of building fairer agreements.
My approach
I'm Francesca, a systemic couples therapist working with ADHD, autistic and mixed-neurotype couples in English. I pay attention not just to different processing styles, but also to attachment, emotional histories and the meaning each partner makes of their experiences.
We work with the relationship pattern, not against one partner. That might mean making communication more explicit, noticing overload sooner, repairing old hurts and designing everyday routines that actually work for you both.
I'm not a silent observer. I'll help you move beyond explanations into practical changes, while making space for both people's needs.
